My husband has mastered the art of grilling and smoking on our smoker. He rarely cooks although he makes a mean chili (his own recipe) and on occasion he will make his mother's Golden Treasurer Meatloaf recipe. He never bakes except once a year for my birthday. He insists on making me a birthday cake and not just in a 9x13 pan. They are always a double layer chocolate cake (my favorite).His comfort level must be growing because this year he decided to get creative with the decorating. Plus he made me a light box to take food pictures in during the winter months and of course, he bought me jewelry. Does he know his way to my heart or what!!
Tip: He used canned frosting but the cake was so moist he was struggling with frosting the cake so he microwaved the frosting for a few seconds, stirred it really well and then applied. It went on smoothly and actually was creamier and tasted more like homemade frosting.
I have always said you can have all the money in the world and give gifts of gold but it is still the little things someone does that means the most and pulls at your heart strings.
