Cooking with Fresh Herbs - Matching Herbs to Food

Cooking with Fresh Herbs - Matching Herbs to Food - Easy Life Meal & Party PlanningDo you have all these herbs growing in the garden and thinking "now what"?  Cooking with fresh herbs creates dishes that taste garden fresh. After removing the stems chop or mince the leaves with a knife or scissors just before using. Fresh herbs can easily be added to grilled or cooked vegetables, sauces and soups, marinades and to salads. When possible, add them at the end of the recipe to retain their flavor.  Hope you enjoy this quick and handy Infographic on Matching Herbs & Food:

Cozy Kitty's

Cozy Kitty's by Easy Life Meal and Party Planning
Newton and Meeku
I know this is a bit off the beaten path of our usual post, but as I am shivering and trying to water my garden outside I come in to get a coat and I see my cats laying on the couch. Obviously they had the right idea all that was missing was a good movie and popcorn. That will be later, see it is about 63 degrees here in South Florida and if you don't water real good before tonight when it is suppose to be in the 40's it can stress the plants out. I have a new crop of tomatoes that are just a few days from picking and don't want to lose them. I hope your winter is going like theirs!

First Pineapple of the Season

First Pineapple by Easy Life Meal and Party Planning
My husband and I have always enjoyed the pineapples over in the Bahamas. They are so sweet and have a very low acidity to them. I hope this will turn out like those that we love. It takes up to two years for a pineapple to produce. Meanwhile, I am waiting for this little gem to ripen a golden yellow and then I will pick it and eat it!

Life & Time of My Garden

The beginning of May I posted pictures of my newly built raised bed vegetable garden. Shortly thereafter, I planted my garden and I have been mesmerized by watching it grow in leaps and bounds. It helps that we have had a cool Spring and a lot of rain (I mean a lot). Between June 1st to-date we have received over 6 inches of rain which enabled the garden to grow very quickly.

Raised Bed Gardening

Raised Bed Gardening
Most of my adult life I have had fairly large gardens until ten years ago when we put
a pool in the garden space. I then took up container gardening which limited my ability to grow everything that I like. During the following years it seemed to fit my lifestyle but I still longed for that large garden. Now I am at a point in my life that I want to re-engage in gardening on a larger scale but have limited space.

Winter Broccoli

Broccoli
As the rest of the country hunkers down for a winter storm, I am outside harvesting a beautiful crop of broccoli. Home Grown and Organic, they are so sweet. This year the heads are huge!

I see some Broccoli Soup in my future.

Fall Plantings

Florida Gardening With the rest of the country heading into winter, us Floridean's are reaping the benifits of our beautiful weather. We start planting our gardens in September and harvest from November through May. Nothing like your own produce. This year I planted Zinnias and marigolds from seeds. They are just BEAUTIFUL It cost me $4.00 and the are so huge and healthy. I will diffently do more next year.
